Monday 3rd April saw the new season underage training in Grattans and it was a great turnout of new and old faces! and winners from the Prize draw for all those who register on Friday 31st March, were announced.

The training takes place each Monday from 6.30 to 7.30 and you can register your child on the day, we have Blitzes (games with other clubs) for U8's and U10's and they get going later in the month. The U13 league starting in May and the U12 in June. There will be further updates in the coming weeks so please keep an eye out here.

U18 - Congratulations to the Western Gaels U18's who continued their winning ways in Div 2 of the special league with a hard-fought victory over Ardagh/Drumlish in Dunbeggan last Friday evening. Poor weather conditions hampered the game somewhat but the home side battled on to grind out a victory! The final round game takes place this Sunday with the visit of Northern Gaels to Clonbony, with a victory securing a final spot in the competition. Best of luck to Mick, Mark and all the lads!

U16's - start their Div 1 League Campaign with the visit of Killoe to Dunbeggan this Thursday evening. Best of luck to the team and management in their game and indeed the coming season ahead!

U14 - Western Gaels U14 qualified for the Feile Shield Final with a victory over Dromard in Dunbeggan last Saturday. In what was a perfect example of a game of two halves due to a strong wind, Western Gaels went in for the half time oranges with a significant lead, but only raised a single white flag in the second half, to run out victors by 5 points in a nervy finish. There was some excellent football played, especially in the first half, and good contributions from all the players. We now look forward to the Feile Shield final, and the chance to represent Longford at the National Finals.
U13 - Western Gaels U13s played their Leinster final on Saturday last 25th March in the brilliant surroundings of the Abbottstown National Games Development Centre where they came up against a very strong and well organised Seneschalstown from County Meath. We played in beautiful sunshine and in good spirit this game took on a life of its own at different stages, the going was tough at times especially playing on a bigger pitch but we went in at the break full of confidence for the second half after getting back into the game just before halftime. At the start of the second half Seneschalstown superiority came to fore. Try and try as we did to compete for every ball in the second half Seneschalstown were getting the better breaks and eventually ran out comfortable winners, but the one thing we never did was give up no matter what the score was so great credit goes to all the players involved on the day. Overall the day was very enjoyable and the competition itself was a good workout for this team as they look forward to the Longford U13 competition later in the year. Well done to all the players who played and to all the support we received in this competition.

Watch out for Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps this year at Grattans – 7th to the 11th August
