And we're offU13s - Western Gaels played their first game in the Leinster U13 on Saturday 28th at home in Clonbony against Colmcille of Longford. With Daniel Gallagher in goals, Ryan Casey & Darragh Campbell in the fullback line, Matthew Hawes in the halfback line, Eoin Kinlan & Rasheed Yeobah in midfield and Gary Hand in the full forward. It was great to see this number of players from the Grattan Gaels club in the first half and throughout the game. We started well with an early goal on the board but Colmcille, to their credit, put it up to us at different stages during the game and goals were a plenty throughout this game.
We would go onto score 8 in total, it was a great first half effort from all the players were we went in at half time with a six point lead, this gave us an opportunity to use more of our bench for the second half and it was great to see more of the Grattan Gael contingent making their debut for the Western Gaels ( Shannon Gaels/Grattan Gaels) amalgamation including Beau O’ Connor, Dan Devlin & Gavin Nulty all came on in the second half where they all played their part in a great victory. Gary Hand was in great scoring form bagging 2 well taken goals along with Dan Devlin who bagged 3. In the end we just got over the line by a one point victory 8-4 to 7-6 after a great fight back by Colmcille , well done to all players and management team of Alan Fayne ( Shannon Gaels) and Tommy Hawes ( Grattan Gaels ) on a great victory. Starting fifteen: Daniel Gallagher( Grattan Gaels), Kevin Farrell ( Shannon Gaels), Ryan Casey (Grattan Gaels ), Darragh Campbell ( Grattan Gaels), Aaron Kenny ( Shannon Gaels), Cormac Casey ( Shannon Gaels), Matthew Hawes ( Grattan Gaels), Eoin Kinlan ( Grattan Gaels), Rasheed Yeobah ( Grattan Gaels ), Cillian Cox ( Shannon Gaels), Jamie Hagan ( Shannon Gaels), Niall Chawke ( Shannon Gaels), Dylan Hanley ( Shannon Gaels), Calum Gordon ( Shannon Gaels), Gary Hand ( Grattan Gaels), subs used: Dan Devlin ( Grattan Gaels ), Beau O’ Connor ( Grattan Gaels), Gavin Nulty ( Grattan Gaels), Conor Lyons ( Shannon Gaels ), Luke Dowd ( Shannon Gaels ), Kieran O’ Dowd ( Shannon Gaels), James Killain (Shannon Gaels), Daire Cox ( Shannon Gaels).
