It’s been a wonderful year for Grattan Gaels, our teams and fans have had a fair few highlights. In September our under 12s’ team beat St Vincent’s of Drumlish with a score of 4-6 to 2-2 and won the division 3 county championship. Our under 12s’ are clearly getting used to winning and great things will be expected again next season. This year we were proud to field our first under 14s team in four years, who played in the Division 3 championships. It was a close game, in fact we nearly won it and our under 14s’ can hold their head up high and we look forward to more next season. Our Under 10s’ played some explosive games which were great to watch, you could see over the season that they just got better and better. Our Under 8’s had a very exciting season they had training in Pearse Park not once but twice. There was a Trip to Croke Park where they got to play on the pitch with other teams from Leinster, it was a wonderful experience for all involved and to top off the day the children were taken to The Base activity centre in Celbridge. We finished up the year with some very exciting indoor blitzes. In April Grattan Gaels marched in the 1916 GAA Memorial parade on the Battery Road and into Pearse Park, we even won the “Most colourful team Award”. It was a great day for everyone to connect with our history. When you look back at the year as a whole, you realise how much fun it all was.
There was our annual fun walk where all our parents and children got the opportunity to meet and have a day out. Each year with new players we are given the opportunity to make the Grattan Gaels family bigger and remember that the first priority is to have fun.
