SENIOR CLUB We played Mullinalaghta in the first round of the Junior Championship on Wed last, full report in next week’s notes. We play Killashee in the second round of the championship on Thursday next 3rd Sept at home in Dunbeggan Park Due the Covid Restrictions with no supporters in attendance we will have live Twitter Feeds throughout ( @grattanoggaa ) for all our games in the championship. MINOR CLUB Grattan Gaels are hosting a Fun/Health Walk/Cycle to raise funds towards the running cost of the Minor Club on Monday 14th September, more details can be found on our Twitter page (@Grattan Gaa ) our FB page ( Grattan Gaels Gaa ) and on www.grattangaa.com. U16s: We played our final game in the championship at home in Dunbeggan Park on Saturday last v Drumlish knowing a well would give us a slim chance of progressing to the next stage, alas but it wasn’t to be as we just came up short in the end. It was a very entertaining contest with both teams needing the points, a huge effort was put in by all the squad on the day especially when it looked like Drumlish would run away with it, in the end we came up short by 3 points Grattan Gaels 4-7 Drumlish 3-13. The U16C turned out to be a very competitive championship with 6 games for each team been played which was a first in a long time at this age grade, we probably left points after us in our first two games which didn’t help and along with a couple of injuries who knows what might have been. As our journey has come to an end we as a management we would sincerely like to thank a superb bunch of players for all their efforts throughout a season that we will remember for different reasons for a long time to come, to the parents for their huge support once again, to the Minor Club Executive for the outstanding work they continue to do year in year out. SENIOR CLUB We continue our preparations for our first game in the Junior Championship away to Mullinalaghta on Wednesday 26th Aug . Thanks to all those who supported our recent fundraising draw. U16s: We played our 5th game in the championship on Saturday last away to our near neighbours Shannon Gaels , in what was a very entertaining game throughout we eventually came out on top in the end on a scoreline Grattan Gaels 4-12 Shannon Gaels 4-3, we now head into our final game this coming Saturday 22nd at home in Dunbeggan Park v Drumlish knowing a win will put us in with a chance of progressing to the final with the hope that other results will go our way. SENIOR CLUB We played Killoe away in the secomd round of the Division 3 league on Saturday 1st Aug , even though we came up short in the end by 0-12 to 0-9 it was still a good competitive game that will hopefully stand to us come championship, We play our first game in the Junior Championship away to Mullinalaghta on Wednesday 26th Aug. MINOR CLUB Underage training continues every Monday with brilliant numbers, as always new members are always welcome. Call PJ on 086 8121594 for more details. U16s: We have played 4 games in the championship so far, we put in a great performance against Southern Gaels on Thursday 30th July at home in Dunbeggan but just came up short in the end by a point Grattan Gaels 3-9 Southern Gaels 3-10, Next up we played Ardagh away where we put in a huge performance and won convincingly in the end Grattan Gaels 7-12 Ardagh 2-7, We played St Francis at home on Saturday last 8th Aug , what a game this turned out to be with an outstanding display of football and never give up attitude by all the squad, we won in the end by two points Grattan Gaels 5-7 Dromard 4-8, Having lost our opening game to Kenagh and also to Southern Gaels we know we have to win all our games from here on to be in with a chance of progressing further in the competition , with two games left Saturday’s win v Dromard has given us a great boost of confidence, well done to all the squad on a super effort so far.
