We had a great win over Clonguish in round 4 of the Div 3 league and we quickly followed that up with another great win over Colmcille in Rd 5 on Sunday last 25th at home in dunbeggan park, with our final two games remaining it sets us up nicely to be in with a chance of progressing to the Gilmore cup semi-final, our 2020 championship semi-final is due the take place on the wkd of 29th Aug. The draw was made for the 2021 Junior championship where we have been draw in a group 2 along with Dromard;Ballymore;carrickedmond;Fr manning gaels Group 1 teams: legan;Ardaghmoydow;rathcline;granard,st columba’s mullinalaghta Keep an eye out on our social media outlets for updates Hard luck to our club players Karl Murray , Reuben Murray & Conor Gallagher who were part of the Longford hurling squad who were beaten in Lory Meagher semi final. FUNDRAISING CYCLE Thanks to all those who supported our cycle in what was a scorching hot day, it’s something .we may well look at again next year as our dates were restricted due to covid regulations. Our JACKPOT currently stands at €10,000 Results (18 /7/21) no jackpot winner, Numbers drawn: 8-10-15-19 €20 Winners: Bernie Mulvihill; Alison McNally; Michael Kelly LONGFORD SOUTH COMMUNITY GAMES Longford south community games will hold their athletics track competition in grattan óg gaa club grounds on bank holiday Monday next 4th august at 4.30pm, registration will take place from 4pm, track events will take place for U8,10,12,14 & U16 boys and girls, applicants must be underage on 31st july 2021. LONGFORD COUNTY BOARD DRAW Thanks to all those who supported this draw which took place on Saturday last, all winners can be found on any of the Longford Gaa social media outlets. MINOR CLUB Best of luck to our underage teams whosechampionship games will commence shortly Hard luck to our U17 players who were part of the Longford U17 hurling panel who lost out to Armagh in a one point defeat, better days ahead for these great bunch of players, it’s great to see hurling on the rise in Longford even as it continues to have it’s critic’s within the county who should for once support hurling, any player is well entitled to play both codes and should always be supported on that. We played our first game in the Div. 3 league on Sunday last 27th June v Legan away , unfortunately we just came up short on a scoreline of Grattan Óg 1-08 Legan 1-10, well done to all players on a brave effort, we were due to play Legan again this time in the Div. 5 league last Wednesday but this was postponed till a later date , we play Kenagh in the Div. 5 league this coming Wednesday at home in dunbeggan park at 8pm, we follow that up with our next game in div 3 on Sunday next at home in dunbeggan park v Killoe at 2pm, best of luck to both players and management in these upcoming games, check out our social media outlets for any changes to games or club updates, A huge congrats to our club player Reuben Murray who was picked on the hurling team of the week recently, a great achievement for a small county like Longford and a proud moment for Reuben and his family, well done from all in Grattan Óg Gaa club. FUNDRAISING CYCLE We are holding a 10k;30k;100k cycle on Sunday 18th July at 10am, all details are currently available on all our social media outlets, Individual €20 Family €30, registration on the day or can be done online at www.grattangaa.com Our 10km route will start at Grattan Óg Gaa club grounds and will continue along down the canal heading to bridge at killashee next to the church and return again back the same route to the clubhouse. Our 30km will start at Grattan Óg Gaa club grounds continue on into Lanesboro, will then head on to derryhaun turning left there and continue on back to Grattan Óg Gaa club grounds. Our 100km will start at Grattan Óg Gaa club grounds continue on into Lanesboro, Ballymahon,edgeworthstown, ballinalee, dernacross, esker, drumlish hill, drumlish back into Longford and will finish at Grattan Óg club grounds. LONGFORD COUNTY BOARD DRAW Longford Gaa fundraising draw has been launched and is still on-going with tickets still available to purchase with the main draw taking place on Saturday 24th July, all clubs in Longford have come on board and have committed to selling 50 tickets per club, these tickets can be sourced online also but as a club we would appreciate that anyone still interested in buying one can they do so through the Grattan Óg club and contact any of our committee who have these tickets to sell, the club will receive a token on all their 50 tickets are sold, thanks for the support so far.
