U18.
Our minors hope to start this year’s season with a friendly game in Kenagh V Kenagh/Carrick Sarsfields on Monday 29th February, throw in at 7pm. Best of luck to Willie John, Billy and all the lads with this years campaign. Congratulations to Peter, Stephen and all the county minors on two great results in this year’s group stages of the Leinster League A win over Offaly in the last game should see Longford progress on into the next phase. Best of luck to all! U16. A very well done, to the Western Gaels juvenile team, who kicked off their Leinster League campaign with a victory over Tullamore in Offaly last Saturday evening. The lads showed great reserve and a great 2nd half performance to turn a 4 point deficit at half time into a winning 3 point margin in the end. A great performance and start to the competition. Well done to Jimmy, PJ, Mark, Sean and all the team. This week will see the rescheduled1st round game v Dromard/Drumlish take place, looks like Thursday night but to be confirmed, followed by the visit of Mullingar Shamrocks to Clonbony at the weekend. A couple of similar performances will hopefully see the team progress to the knock out stages of the competition! U14. Our team kicked off their season last weekend with a challenge v St.Lomans in Mullingar at Shamrocks Mullingar. While our lads got off to a great start and had a large lead at half time, the home side fought back valiantly to snatch a victory. Thanks to the club for facilitating the fixture and welcoming us down to their ground - hopefully can repay the compliment in the future. The minor club 1st meeting of the year will take place in the coming weeks and registration for the younger teams will take place. The committee are working hard to Organise some training and information nights in conjunction with the County Boards 20/20 program and details of these will appear in the coming weeks.
